New Computers not showing up

We recently purchased a new lab of Dell OptiPlex 7470 All in Ones and none of them are showing up in KACE.  The agent is installed and the logs look normal.  Could it be that we are trying to process our maintenance renewal and since we are not renewed the devices will not show up until that renewal goes through?

  • I'm not sure if this helps with your particular situation but in the latest release kace identified an issue with W10 1903 fresh installs. I have seen this issue on two new Dell latitude 7400's.
check out this link, it might help:

    • Once my KACE renewal gets processed I will get the hotfix applied and upgrade to the latest build that was just released. - bwilkerson 4 years ago

Review the logs.
My magic runes say you are using W10 1903 and you see BAD_MAC_IP in the logs if you run a runkbot 4 0.

If yes, follow https://support.quest.com/kb/292130

  • I thought that only affected late model computers as in older computers. These are brand new models.

Is there a resolution on that page? I cannot see i because I am awaiting our maintenance renewal for support.

If there is can you share the resolution with me? I see "BAD_MAC_IP ignored HandlePUT(BAD_MAC_IP=" logs in the K1000 log file. I didn't think to look there as I assumed that issue only affected older computers based on the "Late Model" description of the issue. - bwilkerson 4 years ago
    • can you please log the full lines?

"License expires: never" just means that you are always able to login, but if the license expired some features are disabled. If the license has an expiration date here, you cannot login anymore.

The potential issue is caused by a recent BIOS description change by Dell (and also Lenovo as I have learned at least) which causes an inventory upload failure.
There is a hotfix attached to the above KB which fixes that. - Nico_K 4 years ago

If there is a hotfix I guess I cannot get it until my maintenance support is renewed. - bwilkerson 4 years ago

Is your appliance out of license? If yes, new devices won't connect. It should be visible under K1 logs

  • The info on the KBOX says my license never expires but we have not renewed our maintenance agreement for support. Are these the same thing? - bwilkerson 4 years ago
    • No, you just do not get upgrades. Your system should still work for the number of licenses you purchased. - JordanNolan 4 years ago
