DirectX failures
My directx isn't working and I've tried updating my drivers, but all I get for either installation are errors what should I do and how can I receive my driver updates without errors?
I have an old Dell Inspiron, but I know for a fact that I should be able to use Spore and Oblivion in it. This is my first question so I'm not sure what else I should put here, so if you need any more information just post.

What OS and Directx version are you running?
Have you tried going to MS's download site for directx instead of using updates?
When you say you tried updating what method are you using?
