I'll bet you use Wise Package Studio and you have added files in a piecemeal fashion 5 times?

This is easy to fix and is documented here on AppDeploy (like pretty much everything...). You need to edit the Media table (you might want to take the opportunity to remove the ridiculous 'WISETRF' part of the CAB name which WPS insists on inserting while you're at it) so that the last file sequence number is reflected in the Media table's LastSequence column.

To avoid this in future, set the appropriate options using the 'Media' link from the 'Installation Expert' screen. WPS will still use its stupid name but that can be easily edited.

It could be easier with the tool you're using, so could you provide which one you are using.

Otherwise with MakeCab from the SDK you could re-create the source files into one CAB file.

The "stupid name" is due to the quick compile optione turned on if I recall correct which no one should have enabled.

Nope. First thing done in any WPS environment is to turn that off and we indeed operate like that but still get stupid name.

VBScab, thanks for this useful bit of information. As I'm just learning about WPS I had it on my list to figure out how to change the CAB file name it generates. This is extremely helpful information.

In my case the the Media Table's CAB options are greyed out... And how would you remove the 'stupid name' from it? I don't like it either...

you can edit the media table entry and remove the stupid name... of coz.. you need to rename the cab file accordingly before saving the MST
