Software Deployment Question

MSI File Location

11/05/2015 1302 views
Should I be storing all of my MSI files on a folder somewhere on my K2000?  For example, I would create a folder called MSI that resides in the same location as drivers, drivers_postinstall and restore.  When I run my post-install task, I get an error "cannot find file" and get a return code 2.

Thanks!

  • Do you keep your MSI files in a single location on your network share? I just want to know what's "best practice" -- thanks!
    • I attach and upload them for the k2000 that is standard practice
    • for manual installs we do but for both the k1000 and k2000 we upload them to the tasks/mi's

  • Thanks! I have it set up like this but I just thought it might be better to have the packages on the K2 server.
    • they will be on the k2 in \\ikbox\peinst\applications\### if you upload them to each task
      • Thanks again, SMal.tmcc! You've provided me with a lot of info that I'll need to test.
