MS Office 07 Deployment?

Firstly hello everybody! This is my first post here and I have minimal experience with software deployment so it may be somewhat uninformed of which I apologise for in advance!

I have been given the task of deploying MS Office 2007 via if possible an MSI file using group policy.

I can find very little literature about the deployment of Office 07 and was wondering if somebody could help me by pointing me in the right direction?

Also as a side note is it possible to find out which version of Office 2007 I actually have?

The file structure at the root of the CD is:

Access.en-us
Catalog
Excel.en-us
Office64.en-us
Office.en-us
Outlook.en-us
PowerPoint.en-us
Proofing.en-us
Pror.WW
Publisher.en-us
Rosebud.en-us
Updates
Word.en-us
autorun.inf
README.HTM
setup.exe

The reason why I don’t know what version we have is because I was given a copied CD from a family member of an employee of Microsoft that ensures me its attached key is legal for 10 users.

I’m hoping that when we purchase more licences or if they come with our action pack subscription that I will be able to use these licence codes with the media I already have, please advise if this will not be the case.

Thanks very much

T

Hi T

Check the Microsoft Technet for detailed information or the AppDeploy Package Knowledge Base for a quick start.

Hope this helps

Cheers

I have copied across all of the files on my Office 07 CD to my computer and attempted to run the Setup.exe file with the / admin command to run the Office Customization Tool, at which point I was presented with this error:

Files necessary to run the Office Customization Tool were not found. Run Setup from the installation point of a qualifying product.

I believe this indicates it is a retail version, is it still possible to deploy this version over the network?

Yes but you will have to install via a script or manually I believe. You can't do it via an MSP and pre-input the serial numbers and settings...

I could be wrong though.

Hi folks,
this is the place to go:
http://technet2.microsoft.com/Office/en-us/library/9df1c7d2-30a9-47bb-a3b2-5166b394fbf51033.mspx?mfr=true
Lots of reading, but isn't this allways the case with new products? :-)
Unfortunately, ORK 2k7 is not out yet.
Regards, Nick
