Modify Uninstallstring for an assigned MSI?

I need to force a reboot at the end of an application uninstall. The application has been assigned to machines via software GPO. Is there a way to a add /REBOOT=Force to the string? Has anyone tried this before?

Thx

We had this issue and fixed it be creating a reboot package. GPO will uninstall your app first and then install the reboot package which forces the reboot. The reboot package stays on the machine until you need it next time by just removing it and reinstalling it.

so your saying 1) remove the existing MSI 2) Create & deploy a MSI the will force a reboot?

Thnks I will give this a try.

Hey MSIMaker, how did u go about creating the reboot MSI. I am able to use the schedulereboot custom action to cause a reboot with a UI. I setup the msi to always reboot and suppress prompts. The MSI installs a reg key and txt file in a temp dir. When i attempted to do this with a computer assigned install the install completes but without a forced reboot.

any ideas are appreciated.

IBM created our reboot msi.

I will have a look at it and see what they did. I haven't had a reason to really look at it until now :)

Why create a separate package?

Add the force reboot in the existing package on condition uninstall=true at the end
