Lock the MSI Database

08/13/2016 648 views
Hi,

Does anyone know how to lock the MSI database to prevent anyone from editing without a password?
I am not seeking a password to prevent the MSI from installing/deploying, but so the MSI is not edited in any type of authoring tool.

Thanks

  • Not really...as the package requires to be on an open deployment share....I did it years ago in Wise Package Studio and for the life of me....cant remember anymore....
Like most places, security is the theme and need to lock away a password in the MSI table...yes the password could be encrypted using vbe and msihidden property tables but I really need to lock the MSI tables for this to be secure enough...

There's no way to do it natively. Could it be put on a password-protected share?
