Lenovo T450s won't PXE boot

Hi,

I'm at wits end with this, we switched over to Lenovo T450s laptops and I'm unable to get them to boot past the initial KBE selection screen. The selection screen appears, I choose a KBE, and it starts to load as normal. Eventually it stops with the error, 'not enough memory to load the specified image' and loops back to the KBE selection screen again. The machines have the same specs as the T440s we used previously and were able to pxe boot fine. I believe I have the proper drivers for the network adapter already (e1c64x64.inf and e1d64x64.inf). Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I have a solution to the problem.

This is not something that anyone can fix, this is fixable only by Dell. I contacted Dell support about the issue and they fixed it by tethering into our Kace server. When I asked them what they did their response was "They modified the KBootImage.class.php files to include the modification on line 2195." This KBootImage.class.php file is the boot menu file that is pushed down during PXE. Editing that file is something users cannot do.

If this is for KBEx64 and you are booting winpe5, I have run into this problem also.  I have not had time to trouble shoot this yet, but I did find a workaround.  I built a winpe3 KBEx64 and it works just fine.

  • I have the same problem and tried building it using winpe3 and it did not work for me. I also updated the bios to the most current and it still didn't work. - LlamaStew 8 years ago
    • The difference would be drivers you added to your KBE vs the ones I added. I used part of the sccm pack to get winpe3 to work but at the time they did not have the sccm pack for windows 10, only 8.1 and neither 7 or 8.1 sccm pack seemed to resolve the winpe5 kbe problem. Will try with the win10 pack to build a winpe5 kbe. - SMal.tmcc 8 years ago
      • I just wanted to check and see if you had any luck with the winpe5 kbe. I tried making a winpe3 with windows 10 network and storage drivers but I get the same issue. I'm about to make a winpe3 with windows 7 drivers and try it again. - LlamaStew 8 years ago
      • I am at Dell World this week so I have not had time to check yet - SMal.tmcc 8 years ago
