We just moved from a physical KACE 5.4 server to a VM KACE system with version 6.2. Now about 50 or so of our computers automatically appeared on the list but we have another 800 or so that is not populating. I tried messing around with the discovery schedules and results but even then it is only pulling about 80 or so.

Is there a specific reason why these 50 are showing up but none of the others?

Is the hostname of the virtual appliance the same as the old physical appliance? Your agents are probably configured to connect to the hostname (see the amp.conf file) so if the hostname changed they won't be able to report anymore.

  • It is different and it looks like it is pointing to the old appliance. Is there a simple way to get them all pointed to the VM or would I have to touch on every single machine?
    • Can you setup a DNS redirect?

Otherwise you need to update the file on every computer. If you have another method of sending commands to your computers then you can use the amptools.exe program and this command line will update the configuration file:
      c:\program files\dell\kace\amptools.exe set host=kacehostname
      (for 32bit Windows).
      • Perfect. Thanks for your help. We actually used our old KACE to push out the command line to update the config file. We will probably also set the DNS redirect as well. So far it worked on the majority of the systems but failed on some because of one reason or another.

Share SNMP OID and MIB Information
It’s easy to add custom SNMP OID GETs to your Dell KACE K1000 inventory, but where do you find the exact OIDs you need for a specific device? This is the place to share the OIDs and MIBs you have – and to request the ones you need.
