K2000 RSA Mass Deploying an Image

My company purchased Kace Imaging and was curious how you would image 300 pcs at a remote site.  An RSA is installed at the site.  We're also starting to test with the WIM images which seem to image faster.  Also, would installing the images via USB stick be a good alternative?

thanks

Read up on this to get the most machines imaging at once:  http://www.itninja.com/blog/view/wim-storage-freeing-up-space-on-your-k2000-if-you-are-using-wim-s

That has helped us a lot.

  • Thank you for that tip. I will definitely check that out.

Do you know if there's a way to do like a Multicast with Kace? I used to use Ghost back in the day and I remember that feature was very helpful when pushing out to a bunch of pcs. - InterneToughGuy 11 years ago
  • There is no multicast feature right now, hopefully they will incorporate this in some way in a future release. - nheyne 11 years ago

As long as your network is up to the task ( no 100Mbps bottlenecks ), you should be able to use Scripted Installations for 20 or 30 machines at a time.

I would avoid USB Flash Drive imaging, but they are an option. That whole sort of operation requires quite a bit of testing on its own.

I have had good experiences imaging from an RSA at remote sites.

  • I want to be able to image 100 to 200 at a time. We have a new location with estimated 300 new users and 20-30 would take forever. I guess we will have to go back to ghost multicasting for this.
