Is there a way to restrict a script from running on a machine if it has been assigned a specific label?

I want to prevent script from deploying on a group of computers that belong to a certain label.  Is there a way to restrict a script from running on a machine if it has been assigned a specific label?

Why not do a Smart Label that "DOES NOT CONTAIN" the specific label you created, and set the script to run just on those machines.

It'd get dangerous when installing new PCs since the first Smart Label would need a solid Update or two before the supplementary Smart Label would catch.

Or you could put the original smart label parameters as the "Verify" on the script, e.g., before the script runs, it could check to see if the PC has a program installed, or a specific registry field.

  • gcarpenter. Thanks for your comments. I thought about the Smart Label approach, but wasn't sure if that was the right way to go about it. New PCs shouldn't pose a problem in this case. Thanks for the input. - rcubed 11 years ago
