InstallTailor fails to create mst
Hi
I am using Wise Package Studio 7 sp2 and am trying to use the installtailor feature.
I have used it in the past successfully but just recently it has been failing to create the .mst and instead creating a 0 byte .tmp file. It doesn't matter which msi I use, I get the same result. I have re-installed Wise and have tried on a different pc pointing to a different sharepoint. An error does appear in the application eventlog
Source : MsiInstaller
Event ID 1015
Failed to connect to server. Error 0x800401F0
I have googled the error but nothing seems relevant and the re-ergistering the msiexec service didn't help.
Doing a snapshot still seems to work fine.
I was wondering if someone else has ever had this problem.
Thanks
Graeme

Graeme,
I have had these issues before. The most reliable method I found of overcoming this silly problem is to:
Open Wise Package Studio (6, in my case)
Click File > New Project. Fill in the fields on the right, making sure to specify the project directory (this is where your MST will be generated and saved).
Close the window. Ensure your project is selected in the 'Active Project' field.
Now open InstallTailor and make your changes. The MST will get generated in the folder you specified for your project directory.
It's a stupid problem to have, and creating a project should not be necessary for a task. However, it worked for me.
