InstallShield 2010 or InstallAware 9, that is the question...

Hi All,

I'm hoping I can find some good feedback on the pros and cons of both InstallShield 2010 and InstallAware 9.

My company is looking to change install build products (currently using a Wise ->Altiris -> Symantec product, but no upgrades appear in sight). I've gathered the leading candidates are the latest InstallShield (Flexera Software) and InstallAware products.

I'm hoping somebody has some experience with fairly recent products from these companies or both of the actual product versions mentioned above. If so, which do you like better and why?

I'm thinking I could work with either so I guess I would say the choice will go to the one that creates the least headaches! I've worked with InstallShield products in the past (Developer 8 and InstallShield 12) and didn't have any earth shattering problems.

Other resources that are out there that may give me some answers to the above questions would be helpful too!

There are many features listed for both and I will begin to weed through those as well.

Any insight, info is Greatly Appreciated!

Thanks in advance [;)] !!

What about Installation Studio, any plans for that upgrade?

Also is WPS similar to Installation Studio? I'm thinking that it makes use of wfwi.exe in some way and has a similar looking IDE or at least that would be the hope if that is the way I end up moving.

Checked with Symantec/Alteris/Wise support regarding the future of Wise Installation Studio...

We do still have updates coming for Wise Installation Studio, we are expecting one by the end of the year which will be a release to make it Windows 7 compatible along with many other compatibility functions. We don’t expect the Wise Installation Studio to go way anytime soon and will continue to release updates as needed.

All I can say is that it says a lot about a product when the developers release a windows 7 compatability update 1 year after the OS was released!

Installshield imo, least they update their product in a timely manner!

Our thoughts exactly. Depending on our budget, I want to go with InstallShield. I'm familiar with it and its fairly reputable I would say.
