Installing "Microsoft Office" updates manually as a post install task.

Hi guys ,

Is there a way I can add updates to office post install....?

I could install office , update it....and then create an image,

but would prefer not to. So installing office as a post install task

is what we want, but with all the latest updates installed.

(Updating to remote sites can be an issue for us, hence the need to

send the machine with all the latest updates installed.)

There are a few options you can do other than having a localKACE Repository on site for updates.

1 – Download all updates and zip them up in one file alongwith a batch file that will call each update/patch one by one and run thesilent install.  Add this as a postinstallation task to run after your Office install completes having the taskjust call the batch file to run.

2- Depending on the version of office you can incorporatethe updates into the installation.  For2010-2016 (non o365), there is an updates folder in the installation sourcefiles that you can extract all the MSU files for patches into.  When in that folder, Office will install themas part of the installation process.  Foro365 products, you can take the setup.exe file and execute a setup.exe/download “target folder” and it will pull the latest installation files downfrom Microsoft for offline installation. Then you can store your configuration xml file in that same folder, zipthem all up and when you run setup.exe /configure configuration.xml file, itwill utilize the installation files included with the source folder.

I hope these options give you a solution that works well foryou.
