INSTALLDIR Query

Hi,

Can anyone help me, I have only packaged a few programs so far and I have just come across something in one package that I am not sure about.

When I go into Files and Folders (in Adminstudio) under ProgramFilesFolder there is a folder called "My Company Name" followed by "My Product Name [INSTALLDIR]". Shouldn't it have the product folder name in here? Can I just delete these folders that it has put in here or will that cause more problems down the line?

Cheers

Thats default bahavior, if you go to the General Information / Product Properties section of I.S you can change the INSTALLDIR there to point it to the installation directory of your application.

If you aint using InstallShield then it will be under different tabs.

Thanks.

The package I am currently creating is a series of installs (a list of prerequisites for another piece of software) and so there is not one default install directory. Will it be safe to remove the "IsMyProductDir", "IsMyCompanyDir" and "INSTALLDIR" rows from the Directory table or do I need to leave them there? I dont really want it creating a "My Company Name" and "My Product Name" folders on each pc.

It's OK to delete the "IsMyProductDir" and "IsMyCompanyDir" directories. Leave INSTALLDIR.

Well I assume that your dropping the pre-req files to the machine and then calling them 1 at a time, if thats the case your INSTALLDIR would be the location thats hosting those files. If you do delete the INSTALLDIR directory then TARGETDIR will show in the INSTALLDIR section of Product Properties, just so you know.
