install bluetooth while off

trying to script silent install of Broadcom Bluetooth package (Bluetooth_Broadcom_v5.6.0.5300)

it works fine except if the bluetooth button hasn't physically been turned on at the machine the install fails

Is there any software solutuion to turn it on before the install?

I forgot to mention

the machine is a laptop and to turn bluetooth on use key strokes Fn F3

autoit sendkeys doesn't support the Fn key, VB scripts not sure

The only suggestion I can think of is to 'snapshot' (using your favourite light-weight snapshot tool -InstallWatch, InControl, PictureTaker et al) the pressing of the Bluetooth button.

It may yield some registry key that enables it, which you could incorporate into your script - although I suspect that the button is not a 'soft' switch, but a physical switch that turns the radio on.

You might have to tell your users to turn it on, and script check (WMI/Registry) to confirm that it is on before running the installer.

Hope that helps,
