importing asset info from exel into the Kace computer asset field.

Hi guys,

My question is about importing computer info from a CSV sheet, into the

computer asset field. Keep in mind this is the computer asset field in kace

which is linked to the inventory. Not a static asset type that I created.

What I would  like it to do is fill in the info for PC's it can find and

create the ones it cant as a static record in the computer asset type.

Don't want double and triple records in computer assets..... (already having to clean them up from previous Kace admin).

Also this is a dynamic asset type which sees all the pc's in the inventory. I want to populate this asset from my CSV file.

Don't want to do it manually. Is this possible?

 Thanks guys.

Hello,

if the device already exists is possible to import a CSV file to update the asset fields.
The CSV file can be something like:
"Name","my asset field"
PC-1,IBM
PC-2,HP
PC-3,Dell
PC-4,Asus
When you import it select Name as the PK field.
If the device does not exists the import procedure creates a device asset in the asset view but does not create a 'manual device' in the device view.
if you like to create manual devices programatically you may use the WSAPI feature or generate an XML file that represents the machine inventory information and upload it as a manual device (1 XML for every device).
For more details you can have a look to the K1000 online manual looking for "Adding devices manually in the Administrator Console or by using the API "
Kind regards,
