I need to update a dll with another dll that has an older version than the one that is allready inst

Is there any way to let windows installer update the file when the version of the dll in the msi is older than the one allready installed on the system or should I use another way to install the dll than windows installer.

Why not simply add the DLL to the RemoveFile table?

The other alternative is to use a companion file. Companion file usage is documented on MSDN and there are a few threads here on AppDeploy.
Rating comments in this legacy AppDeploy message board thread won't reorder them,
so that the conversation will remain readable.
