How to use the Reporting forum

This forum is a moderated repository of example KBOX reports from KACE support and pre-sales as well as customers. All attachments have been reviewed by a KACE moderator to make sure that they are safe and will generate the report as described.

Reports are posted in several formats:

  • SQL code
To use a query posted here, copy the SQL from the forum post and go to your KBOX and click on the Reporting tab. Then select Choose Action...->Add New SQL Report. Fill in the name and category as you would like them to appear in your report list, and then paste the SQL into the SQL Select Statement Field. Some reports may also tell you to set the break columns. Make sure the Auto Generate Layout box is checked, and if you want line numbers, the Row Numbers column. Click save and you will be able to run the report.

  • Zip file
Report zip files are generated from the Choose Action->Export item on the Reporting tab. These zip files can contain one or more reports, and do not need to be unzipped before importing. To use a report that is posted as a zip, click on the attachment link in the forum post and click on the .zip file name to download to your computer. Go to the KBOX Reporting tab and choose Choose Action->Import and browse to the zip file you just downloaded. Type a category for the new report(s) and select the desired output formats and click upload reports. You will see a confirmation page showing the reports you just imported.

  • KBOX Resource File (.pkg)
KBOX Resource Files are generated from the Export KBOX Resources tool under the Settings->Resources tab to provide a way to share scripts, managed installs, reports and other KBOX resources between organizations or between KBOX's. To utilize these reports, download the .pkg from the appropriate forum post. Copy the .pkg file to your KBOX in the \\your_kbox_hostname\clientdrop directory. Then go to Settings->Resources and click on Import Resources. You will see listed the various .pkg files on your clientdrop share. Select the desired resource and Choose Action->Import. (note: if you can't get to the clientdrop share, be sure that Samba is checked in the Security control panel, and that you have set a Samba password.)
