How to rollback Kace Agent (Client) to previous version? (Current version 6.4 vs. targeted version 6.3)
While troubleshooting an issue with an MSI installation, we discovered a flaw with Kace Agent 6.4 in which the AMPAgent.exe is not communicating to/from the server when the installation script is run against idle computers (i.e., no one is logged on / after-hours updates and remediation). The Kace support Engineer found that when he ran the installation against a system with the previous version of the Agent, the install is successful. This was followed by testing in our actual work environment and proven to be true. As such, we are now faced with the task of doing a rollback install of the Agent on all deployed systems on our enterprise network AND we need to do so as quickly as possible because of pending updates (on-going/continual/ security updates, etc) -- we are seeking input on how best to accomplish this task using the Kace product itself. We are running the K1000 Version 6.4.120261 / The existing version of the Agent (6.4) needs to be removed and the previous version (6.3) needs to be installed on all deployed systems in our network. Agent 6.3 has already been staged in KBox provisioning but the provisioning page itself is currently disabled.

Never tried for the agent but...
Look in your software Inventory to find the version of the 6.4 agent you have installed and that will give you the uninstall command.
Create a script/MI and run a .bat file with that command against your computers that have the 6.4 agent. Redeploy 6.3 agent via Active Directory or some other deployment method.

Active directory would be the best bet. Otherwise, you can use the K1000 to deprovision and reprovision. - jknox 8 years ago
