HOW TO INTALL FILES IN A DRIVE OTHER THAN C:

Hi all,

I am facing a problem in changing my root drive i.e

lets take an example application X. It is originally installed in C drive.

The requirement is like the root drive should be a shared folder not C drive..

Can anyone please help......

Eh?

You want to run an installer on a client machine to install to a shared network drive? - Not a very good idea IMHO.
It's most likely that you're deployment mechanism won't have access to the network location, as it will be running in a non-user context.

Is this something that needs to install once to a network location, and your users connect to that location to launch the application? If so install it on the server hosting the drive, and then provide your users with a shortcut to that location by whatever mechanism you chose.

Have a look at the ROOTDRIVE public property - MSDN has all the information you will need.

Thanks,

This forum is concerned with errors returned by the Windows Installer engine (the link 'MSI Errors' will take you to examples). You should have posted in the 'Package Development' forum. A moderator may move this message.
Rating comments in this legacy AppDeploy message board thread won't reorder them,
so that the conversation will remain readable.
