hardware drivers+unattend device install "Q"
We are trying to intsall the device drivers for a card reader (.inf, .sys, .cat), the goal being push the package with AD (assigned to computer), the wrapped up drivers go to the right place, plug in reader (USB), logon and go. If some interaction is necessary it would be okay.
We have tried placing the drivers is System 32, the drivers folder and creating a WINNT\ExtDrv folder, but we still have to go through add hardware wizard after pc detects the device.
If anybody could add some advice to this endeavor it would be greatly appreciated.[:)]

Hi Njaneardude,
I have in the past used Devcon (http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;EN-US;Q311272) with great success, it takes a while to get the hang of it but once you do its a great tool for automatically installing device drivers. I just use it in a custom action in my MSI's.
MSIMaker has previously referred to https://adelie.ucs.ed.ac.uk/dstwiki/index.php/device%20drivers but I've never used these methods so I can't vouch for them...

I use that method nearly every week to install all forms of hardware and it works perfectly.

Just to update, I used the methods in https://adelie.ucs.ed.ac.uk/dstwiki/index.php/device%20drivers and also found them to work flawlessly. Thanks Jim, much neater than using devcon.
