GPO and User Profiles
If you log into a machine for the very first time (so you don't have any profile) and your login ID is linked to a GPO, which happens first? Does your profile get created first or does the GPO try to execute the policy first?

Think logically. If, for example, the GPO contained an application deployment, where would user files and/or registry settings be stored, if not in the profile?
