Google Earth - Editing toolbar options when repackaging?

I am using Admin Studio to repackage Google Earth for distribution via SCCM 2007. It looks as though extracting the MSI may be the better way to go though. My question is this, how can I edit the options within the toolbars at the top of the application? I do not want my users to have the ability to be able to "update to Google Pro" or "send feedback" Those two options for instance, are under the HELP section of the toolbar. Can I use Orca to edit those out, if so, how would I go about doing that? I seriously appreciate anyones input on this!

  • *Never* repackage MSIs. That path opens up a whole world of pain!!

I don't know whether or not you can remove menu items from the application - I very much doubt you can. The usual work-around for this scenario is to find the HTTP address that the menu option points at and disable it somehow, normally in your firewall or proxy server.

Lastly, you *have* downloaded the Enterprise version, right? Commercail use of the standard one is not permitted and IIRC the Enterprise download is a bare MSI. - anonymous_9363 10 years ago
  • So what you're saying is, run a partial install of Google Earth to unpack the MSI and then go from there? Thanks! - UpdateMate 10 years ago
