GlobalProtect 4 doesn't install when the user isn't an admin

When I install v4 of the client (upgrading from v3) I get the error:
There is a problem with this Windows Installer package. A program run as part of the setup did not finish as expected. Contact your support personnel or package vendor.
This only happens on systems where the user's are not admins on their machines (techs install by typing their creds in UAC prompts). Has anyone else experienced this?

EDIT: Issue appears to be resolved with the recent release of version 4.1.5

This is for a different version but it says.

For the initial download and installation of the GlobalProtect agent, the user of the client endpoint must be logged in with administrator rights. For subsequent upgrades, administrator rights are not required.

If you are upgrading using the current client these rights may not be needed. But again there can be lots of difference between v 3 and 4.

  • Yeah the strange thing is, I even temporarily made a user an admin, signed out and back in, tried installing again, and it still wouldn't install. Same error. Thanks - nahrens 5 years ago
    • Well what do the logs say(If you are using logging)? is the software installed? - nagendrasingh 5 years ago
