Free Deployment SW

Hi guys!

I know it sounds strange, however I am preparing free deployment tool...

It is called SDS (codename) and it will be designed for small companies, that cannot afford tools like USD or SMS...

Right now it is not available for betatesting, because I need to finish few problems now, however first beta will be available in few weeks...

Some really basic informations can be found here:

What I would like you to ask is if you can provide wish list or any ideas... Most people in MSFN are home users, so this is worthless for them.

Thx for any ideas :)

Martin

Well, you didnt request any features, you didnt receive any...

However SDS is moving forward. Right now build 0006 is almost finished and I am beginning to leave core + console and create GUI for SDS.

For more informations, check this MSFN thread:

You need to be able to...
- enter an MSIEXEC line
- set installation under user and Administrator contect
- set dependencies (install package B before installing this package)
- deploy using AD groups and collections (like "All Windows XP users" and/or "All PC's with 512MB memory or more")
- do unattended and attended installs
- facilitate MSI auto repairs
- be able to detect a installation gone wrong and act upon it

I advise you to take a good look at SMS 2003. It might not be the best tool in the world but it will give you lots of ideas.

Good luck,
Marcel
