Can you provide any additional information?
Application Name
Vendor
Version
Packaging Tool(s)
Expected Result
What was for lunch in the cafeteria
Who's on First

Answers to any four (4) of the above questions will be a big help.

Yeah i agree, your post doesnt make sense.

I can make out the following:

Vendor: Computer Associates
Product: eTrust Vulnerability Manager
Type: Service Install ?

What did you want to happen?
Is there an error?
Did you want to un install this service?

When you click msi's they usually install things...

oh sorry for the complete goof up (i think it occured due to high work pressure)

I am restating the issue I face:

The application name is CA eTrust Vulnerability Manager Service. The MSI for this is working perfectly. The problem is once it is installed and the computer is restarted after installation, the following folder opens up by itself .

C:\Program Files\CA\eTrust

INSTALLDIR for this MSI is C:\Program Files\CA\eTrust\vmservice

Hope this makes sense[8|]

if you dont want that folder to open by itself i suggest you check the run and runonce keys under the HKLM registry hive.

:-)
I agree chk reg keys and startup folder.

Key pathing can be found here if ur unfamiliar:
http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/default.asp?url=/library/en-us/setupapi/setup/run_and_runonce_registry_keys.asp

Does this happen every time the machine is restarted?

It is not present in Run or Runonce registries or in start up folder...

Have you looked in HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run too?

Cheers,
Rob.

Do a search in the registry for C:\Program Files\CA\eTrust. Post the results.

There is not a single occurance of "C:\Program Files\CA\eTrust" in the MSI.

Another observation I made is that , this problem occurs only if other CA products are installed on the machine. If the machine completely clean this folder doesn't come up on restart .
