deploying an msi installer

Where in Kace do I go and deploy an msi file?

curently using the scripting module in Kace(see below)

 

and it always fails

 

Running as: Administrator
Error creating process:  \\servername\Dell Kace\vpnclient_setup.msi /forcerestart /quiet: (2) The system cannot find the file specified.
Error Code: 2

  • I just got an msi for Cisco VPN client working. One thing I've found that is key is putting the kace agent on a machine that already has the program installed and then when it checks in, look at its inventory report for installed software. That way you know what the software registers as and can create a managed install using the right software listing.

    You can click on the software from the inventory listing and import an installation file to the software library under that title.

    Also if you have a pcf to import, if you zip up the msi and all the needed files along with the pcf file it will import it automatically. - Eray 10 years ago

You should deploy applications using the Distribution tab. There are multiple posts here on ITNinja explaining how to do this, or you can check the Administrator Guide under the Distributing Software section.
