Deploy Office 2007 with two languages

I have successfully deployed Windows 2007 Enterprise to a test machine using a custom MSP (built with the Office Customization Tool). Included in the deployment was Service Pack 2 for Office 2007 (via the Updates folder). The next step is to include a Swedish language pack in the install. I have looked around and I can't for the life of me figure out how to do it.

I downloaded an ISO containing language packs for Office from the volume licensing thingy at Microsoft. The ISO is called SW_DVD5_Office_Multi_Lang_Pack_2007_W32_MultiLang_SP1_X14-18830.ISO. From this ISO, I extracted OfficeLP2007SP1-kb936982-fullfile-sv-se.exe which in turn extracted into a bunch of MSP files (among them, MAINMUIsp1-sv-se.msp). Where do I put these MSP files? In the Updates folder? How do I get Office to install both the default English and Swedish languages?

The language pack appears to be SP1. I'm not sure if that means that this is SP1 of the language pack or if it's meant for Office 2007 SP1. Should I want for an SP2 version of the language pack?

Man, this is confusing :)

Cheers,
Rickard

Hi Rickard,

I think you need the SP2 language pack for each (http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?displaylang=sv&FamilyID=e1203db2-1cc9-4809-9b6e-3f232cb8899f)

Also I think all you need to do is extract the msp files for both the English and Swedish languages and place in the updates folder - The Office install is supposedly smart enough to figure it out.

Thanks. I read some more about this and found out that I needed to modify config.xml to install multiple languages (and proofing tools). My config.xml now looks like this:

<Configuration Product="Enterprise">
<AddLanguage Id="sv-se" ShellTransform="yes" />
<AddLanguage Id="en-us" />
<OptionState Id="ProofingTools_1033" State="absent" Children="force" />
<OptionState Id="ProofingTools_1053" State="absent" Children="force" />
</Configuration>

It doesn't help though. The installation proceeds without any sign of a problem, but when I first start up any of the Office apps, the menues and dialogs are in English. The language is set to Swedish, but when I try to run the spell checker, it says that the Swedish proofing tools aren't installed.

Here's what's in my Updates folder:

AccessDEsp2-en-us.msp
ClientSharedMUIsp2-en-us.msp
ClientSharedMUIsp2-sv-se.msp
eula.txt
MAINMUIsp2-en-us.msp
MAINMUIsp2-sv-se.msp
MAINWWsp2.msp
Office64WWsp2.msp
Proofsp2-de-de.msp
Proofsp2-en-us.msp
Proofsp2-es-es.msp
Proofsp2-fi-fi.msp
Proofsp2-fr-fr.msp
Proofsp2-sv-se.msp

This is English Office 2007 SP2 and the Swedish Language Pack SP2 that you linked to above.

I install with the command:

setup.exe /config \\server\MSO2007\Enterprise.WW\config.xml /adminfile \\server\MSO2007\Custom.msp

What am I missing?

This really has me stumped. I've uploaded the MSI log if someone could have a quick look and see if you notice anything out of the ordinary:

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Problem solved. Turns out I had the wrong media. I had the service pack for the language pack, not the actual language pack :-)
