Deploy CitrixOnlinePluginFull.exe 11.2 AD

Hello,

I have been given the task of deploying CitrixOnlinePluginFull.exe to 500 workstations that are using a older virsion of citrix already. The workstations are running a script that instead of running the explore.exe shell run ica file that goes into a citrix desktop with out any access to the local computer in any way.

I need a way to deploy CitrixOnlinePluginFull.exe to all 500 computers in a way that can use least amount of administrive work can any body help me i am in way over my head and any help be so appreciated.

Huw

you need to read this

Online plugin - Delivering the Plug-in Software to Your Users

there's a section in there about deploying via AD with a sample script

basically the exe calls a load of msi's you'll have to specify which one's you need and server location

I have had a look at the link you sent thank you for the fast reply. I am not sure which plug ins to use.

Site
The use logs on once goes straight into citrix desktop so i am guessing that i will need SSONWrapper.msi

And DesktopViewer.msi.

Has any body successfully deployed the new virsion of citrix to alot of workstations.

Nobody outside of your environment can tell you which components you will need! If you don't know which ones your best bet is to use all of them (it won't do any harm)!

Yes 6000 desktops, via sms tho, it also needs a reboot which is something to consider

You can deploy it via AD - pull the individual MSIs out of the vendor setup and deploy them via AD

timmsie said: "there's a section in there about deploying via AD with a sample script"

and the link says:

The server installation media contains the installation files for Citrix online plug-in in the Clients directory.
These topics describe how to install, deliver, and remove your plug-in software. Topics include:
  • Using the Merchandising Server and Citrix Receiver to deploy the plug-in
  • Installing and Removing the online plug-in manually
  • Installing the plug-in using the installer and command line parameters
  • Extracting the .msi files from the installer package
  • Delivering the plug-in using Active Directory
  • Delivering the plug-in from a Web page

What's the problem?

OK - so looking here the vendor is not going into the option to pull out the individual MSI's but talks about running a script to do it in AD:

http://support.citrix.com/proddocs/index.jsp?topic=/online-plugin-112-windows/ica-client-deploy-active-dir.html

However when you run CitrixOnlinePluginFull.exe manually you will see that it extracts all the individual components to the %temp% folder which I'm pretty sure you could cusomise (with transforms) and deploy via AD in the more traditional way.

If you are uncomfortable doing this way though I'd stick to the docuemented (and supported) vendor routine... even though it looks like a bit of a pain [8|]

Hope it helps,
Rob.
