Dell Kace Boot Environment Drivers

When trying to image my institutions new Dell Optiplex 9020 over the network the process fails to connect to the Kace server. I believe that the boot environment does not have the drivers to allow the network card to function, how do I update the driver packages in the book environment to allow this to work

  • I am also having this issue with 9020. I have found 2 separate issues. I have one 9020 that presents it's GUID to DHCP to get an IP address instead of it's MAC address. Then KACE just can't see it. The other, just won't connect to the K2000. I did find this article which I believe may help, but, am yet to test it. It would appear that a hardware change may require a Kernel Mode Driver Framework to be installed in to the KBE. If I get it to work I'll let you know.

You can manually add the correct driver to the k2000 quickly.  Download the needed driver and place it in the proper bit directory for the OS

\\ikbox\drivers\kbe_windows_x86 or \\ikbox\drivers\kbe_windows_x64

I created a subdir with our company name under those shares to keep the ones I add manually separated from the others.

then on the k2000 under appliance maintenance recache the drivers

using the media manager (download under the library tab) upload a new boot env for the bit version you want.

after the upload completes you need to go to control panel - general settings and change your default to that new one you uploaded
