Creating a desktop shortcut via UNC?

Hello,
I'm still learning about the numerous features available to us using our K1100 and K2000...So please understand I'm a newbie.

I have an .exe on a network share that I would like to push to each users desktop. In trying to use the Desktop Shortcut Wizard, I enter the UNC path \\servername\subdir\subdir\app.exe, however I receive an error regarding a "Valid Target"
I assumed target in this case is the application, but something isn't quite correct.

Any suggestions?

The Desktop wizard is able to create shortcuts if you give a path to your executable \\server\CoupleOffFolders\yourapp.exe it will create that one. It even handles the spaces by adding " and ". But this will only work if the mapping is available.
Rating comments in this legacy AppDeploy message board thread won't reorder them,
