Converting from ticket to process

We have some tickets that we would like users to convert to a process.  When they use the convert to process, it does not automatically update things such as the status, and categories.

Is there a way to use the convert to process and have the ticket change the fields to match what would have been selected had they started out using new ticket from process option?
