Certificate issue with host name / fqdn

We purchased a certificate for our K1000.  This box's name follows our internal naming conventions (location-computertype-desc-#) so it's hostname is bos-srv-kace01 and FQDN is bos-srv-kace01.mycomp.com.

We purchase a certificae that allows upto 5 FQDN, but only one host name from GoDaddy.  The names on the certificate are:

bos-srv-kace01
bos-srv-kace01.mycomp.com
helpdesk.mycomp.com

My plan is to now implement the Service Desk and to replace our current helpdesk system currently located at helpdesk.mycomp.com which can also be reached by http://helpdesk internally as well so users do not have to enter the FQDN.  On the Win2008 box that currently holds the HD system it is easy to redirect user from http://helpdesk to https://helpdesk.mycomp.com.

Can this be done on the KACE box?  The issue I am having is that users are getting the certificate error when they use the host name http://helpdesk

Do you have a running DNS server? You could have your http://helpdesk resolve internally to your FQDN. As for the cert issue I would see what type of cert it is. Multiple Microsoft updates have disabled users the ability to view sites with less than a 1024 cert for security reasons. You may need to create a wildcard cert for your intranet sites.
