I am having issues uninstalling my KACE client. When I run the installer and I click remove it moves to the next step and it asks me to enter a valid server name. The issue is that it does not give me a box to type the server name. Has anyone else seen this before? Is there a fix for this?

  • How are you attempting to uninstall it? This does not usually show up in the add/remove software assuming Windows.
    • I am just using the ampagent executable and I selected the remove option for the KACE software.

If checking the uninstall option in the K1000 isn't working, and the machine is still checking in or showing online, you can create a script to issue the cmd line.


"$(KACE_APP_DIR)\AMPTools.exe uninstall  all-kuid" or just the all flag if you wish to keep the kuid.

  • Thank you I will definitely try this on the problem user's computer. Just in case this does not work is there any other potential resolution?

on one of those look at C:\ProgramData\Quest\KACE\amp.conf does the host look correct?  if not you can use amptools to fix vs uninstall

$(KACE_APP_DIR)\AMPTools.exe host=kbox.acme.com
