Cygwin historically has a problem with dlls rebasing.. I have tried to package cygwin for 64bit win7 7 faced hell lot of issues. Again Cygwin is an open source where users can keep downloading new apps. So I guess its not really a good idea to virtualize it .

Comments:
  • good point about the changing app base. Cygwin by nature allows you to dynamically install/uninstall programs from the environment. This makes running it in a virtual bubble a bit of a counterproductive thing to do - pjgeutjens 10 years ago

I get the distinct impression from doing some online research that ThinApping Cygwin is not a good idea...

Haven't done it myself though, so I can't really say more on the subject.
