Can K2000 use .WIM Images

Can I upload a .WIM image to K2000 and then deploy from there? I have found it easier for a particular situation to capture the image using imageX.

Yes this is possible.

What i've been doing is re-uploading the wim files in the source media.

Kace is also releasing a toolkit in 3.4 to handle applying wim images through the imaging module.

You will have to explain that. I'm capturing an image now using ImageX. Will the KACE Media Manager recognize this file to upload to Source media or are there other steps?

rjobe,

Do do it as dchristian mentions takes several steps, taking a source media and replacing the boot.wim with your image (calling it boot.wim)

The toolkit, to be released on the 31st would let you do this without any modifications, etc.

corey,

Are there any plan to be able to switch source media / wim files for the scripted installs?

I don't know, honestly search and/or vote for it on kace.uservoice.com ;)

We are using the WIM image from a network share with a script.

I have created a system image with the registry part only which is deployed over the KBOX 2000 and after that we are deploying the WIM image with imagex on the command line with a script.

At the end we are installing the applicatin with KBOX 1000 with the Breadcrumb method.

Anra,

This is about how it will work as an add-on in 3.4 and then fully baked in with 3.5.

Corey,

We are using it on this way already in version 3.3

We had the toolkit available in limited release in 3.3 as well. Not saying it isn't possible in 3.3, just that we will be making it available to everyone in 3.4, where as 3.3 was limited.
