BlackBerry Desktop Manager-Silent Install!
Hi All,
I am facing a problem with the silent install of Blackberry desktop manager 4.3.
This software comes with a vendor supplied MSI and this MSI in turn calls another msi "Roxio mind manger" which installs through features.
Everything works fine in manual installation but when installed silently it doesnot installs "Mind Manager" s/w.
I have gone through package knowledge base but didn't find anything in this regard.
Plz pour in ur suggestions.

Hi Karshi,
Further to what VBSCab said ,the Roxio Mind Manager is installed by the custom action named RIM_Install_SR_Media_Manager.
This custom action is only present in UI sequence so is not being installed when you run it silently. You have two options either to make a nested msi or make 2 separate packages i.e for Mind Manager and Blackberry.

thanyou all for ur replies.
I had already checkd in verbose log and had given a EI sequence to that particular custom action. But still the Mind Manager was not getting installed.
I gave the Execute sequence little after the UI sequence. Plz tell me if i went wrong smwhere.
n m Sorry as i din't post the tried things in my earlier post.
N regarding creation of two seperate packages,it would require a prerequisite of "isscript.msi" and also the roxio media manager.msi requires setup.exe to run.
i added issetupdriven property but found no change in the behavior.
So. plz suggest.

ORIGINAL: karshiIm sorry, I don't understand this at all.

There must be some other LaunchCondition being tested. Check the AppSearch and LaunchCondition tables, or use your authoring tool's UI to determine that.

Hi karshi,
If I recall correct you also would need to prevent the OnCheckSilentInstall custom action from being executed while running in silent mode.
You may also want to have a look at http://support.microsoft.com/kb/306439 (How to create a nested .msi package).
