Is there are sql string that could be put into a field that would allow the asset to keep track of tickets associated with it? Like it does with computers.

No there is not. If you open a support ticket we can better tie your request to a enhancement number.
For now you would have to do a query via reporting. Maybe somebody has something they already use?
