Application Blocker

Hi,

I have a manual label named SW_AppCntr, and i apply it manually to all workstations, to make the application/software blocker work, however i cant find out how to apply this manual label to all workstations automatically when new workstations checks in in inventory.
Any ideas ?

If you want labels to be applied automatically, use a smart label. If you are distributing a third party application blocker and you really want it on all systems, you can set the managed install to deploy to all computers (there is a checkbox). Personally, having a label that applies to all computers in the inventory is redundant when most of the functions in KACE can be set to deploy or run on all computers.

Hi,
Thanks for your quick reply, but..think you missunderstood.

I am using the "Mark not allowed" function in the K1000 in the software catalog.
That function are trigged to only those workstations where the manual label SW_AppCntr are applied.
This a a built.in solution on Kace K1000.

This problem is that i need to maintain the manual labels, like it says, manually.
Do you know that function ? Will the function work if i make a smartlabel with the same name ?

  • I forgot about the label requirement for application blocking. Yes, you can use a smart label, I'm not sure why the documentation doesn't mention that, but labels are labels, a smart label just automatically applies them based on criteria. So, you just need to create a smart label that applies to all of your computers and you should be good to go. Remember that smart labels only get applied when machines check into the appliance. - chucksteel 6 years ago
