Alternative to CCM?? PXE (or other) remote software recomendations
Hi,
Use CCM in our college and wondered if there was a better alternative i.e easier to use, cheaper.
What we do - rebuild machines from scratch i.e get CCM to format / install the OS and other software, and deploy newer software / updates when required.
We wanted something where we didn't need to be at the machine and wondered if there was anything "better" than CCM

SukH,
We are currently in the process of abondoning CCM where I work. It was here before I arrived, and would never have endorsed it. Now that Symantec owns it, it is even worse. Anyhow, we are migrating to Microsoft SMS 2003. We are using the SMS OS Deployment feature pack, as well. Instead of the 40 minute unattended install that CCM does, SMS finishes a Syspre install in about ¼ of the time. Also we have one OS image for all platforms (9 laptop models and 5 desktop models). And because Microsoft is really trying hard to get SMS out into the market, they will give you a pretty good break on pricing. Hope this helps you.

check out netinstall from enteo. it's a very complete solution at a very cost effective price.
