Advance Search, Create Smart Label: results stop working in K1000 after upgrade to 5.5

Seems that if I do a search that contains a special character such as the "(" my browser (Firefox) never comes back with results.  I cannot get a server response in other tabs either.  Until I clear my cookies and reload the page and login, do I get back to where I was.
