Adobe Reader 7.0

I used InstallShield Turner 7.0 to create a MST for the Adobe Reader 7.0. I modified the registry(see below) on the destination computer so that Yahoo search bar will be disabled.
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Adobe\Acrobat Reader\7.0\AVGeneral\cToolbars\cWebSearchView\cPositions\cInternal]
"bHidden"=dword:0000001

I deployed the MSI, but the Yahoo search is still there. The registry cPositions\cInternal "bHidden"=dword:0000001 was not added in.

Does anyone know why? Thanks.

I am using group policy to deploy MSI and I did add the MST into the GP.

Are you installing per user or per computer?

Per computer won't save any of those changes in HKCU.

I changed the MSI to per-user, still not working. Do you know what else I should check?

Try making the registry changes manually to a machine with acrobat reader on it to ensure that your reg change has the desired affect.

Does the component that is installing the reg key have a valid keypath?

Try validating your transformed msi and fix any ICE errors.

Try creating an unique key in HKCU such as HKCU\Software\[Your Organisation]\[AppName]\[AppVersion\Installed=1

Make this the key path so that you promote a self repair for any user who logs in....this will ensure that all of the HKCU entries are inserted correctly.

I found following article very helpful in customizing Adobe acrobat reader 7 .
http://www.sanx.org/tipShow.asp?articleRef=260

The steps mentioned in the article modifies the installation process, accepts the EULA, prevents creation of the desktop shortcut and FastLoad startup link, prevents the splash-screen, web-search toolbar and Acrobat 7 advert from being displayed, and removes the following plugins:

Digital Signatures
Legal PDF
Accessibility
PPK Light
Save As RTF
Web Search
Updater
I did not get any reboot options too on uninstallation .

Hope this helps .

Cheers ,
