Adobe Illustrator CS

Hi,

I´ve tried to package Illustrator CS with WISE Package Studio 5.5 and I included the two Registry keys that was mentioned in this forum

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\{91A4AD99-69CE-4745-97B7-0E0DFBECFDE5}]
"RegCompany"=
"RegOwner"=
"Serial"=

and

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Adobe\Illustrator\11\Registration]
"PRODREG"=dword:65686669

So far so good.

It seems to install OK, but when I start the program I get the following error message

An unknown error has occured (-108). Adobe Illustrator will shut down.

However when I try to start the program for the second time it works just fine. Can anyone please help me with this one?

Cheers.

MSIMike,

That is a fairly obscure and unhelpful error message, so you need to put on your detective's hat.

1. Do either your app or system event logs tell you anything? They probably do not, but it is the easiest place to start.

2. If number one does not give you the answer, use Wise to perform a capture of what is happening as you run Illustrator and receive the error.

3. If number two does not give you the answer, then it is on to RegMon and FileMon. They will give you extreme detail of what is happening AND in what order.

4. Last - if that doesn't do the trick, then you could lock down the Illustrator program directory, the Common Files\Adobe directory, and the Illustrator related registry keys, log on as a non admin user, run RegMon and FileMon as an admin, start Illustrator, and then look for any "Access Denied" entries.

One other question: when you start Illustrator as a first time user, does any self-repair/self heal occur?

No self-repair/self heal occurs when I start the prg as a first time user.

The mystery of it all is that when I start the program the second time it seems to work just fine. After closing down the program and then try to start the prg for the third time the same error message pops up. After that I can start the program again etc.

But thanks for the tip with Filemon and Regmon.
