Add Items from “New†in Windows Context Menu

Hi all
I am using Adminstudio 8.5 repackager tool . I an working on winrar3.93 which is legacy application
I created a ism for and without applying any standards i created a msi after installing the msi i am not getting entry of winrar from “New” in Windows Context Menu.
I checked registries i found there is an extra hive is created in .rar(HKCR\.rar\WINRAR\ShellNew) and i checked my ism but we did not find any entry of
HKCR\.rar\WINRAR\ShellNew. So how i solve that problem please help me...

Try this reg key HKCR\.rar\ShellNew FileName C:\Program Files\WinRAR\rarnew.dat

AFTER installing my application i have this key Try this reg key HKCR\.rar\ShellNew FileName C:\Program Files\WinRAR\rarnew.dat but i also have extra key HKCR\.rar\WINRAR\ShellNew. After deleting the extra one i got entry . Issue is i don't have extraone key in my .ism file ..

Rahul,

Have you checked in hklm\sofware\classes for that extra registry in .ism file? If not check it and if it is there then i think you can delete that entry from .ism.

If Admin Studio recognises a file extension which would be installed it cannot be seen in the Registry tab.
You should check the Component which installs winrar.exe and see the File Types tab. This is where the file associations should be registered.
