Activate MindJet MindManager 7.2.374

Need some help with how to activate MindManager 7.2.374.
The activation process has been completely changed in this new version, and after installation you are not able to activate the program automatically.
I would like to run the original MindManager Pro7admin.msi together with an custom.mst file including license key and activation info. The program should be installed silently, without any interference at installation and at startup. This means the activation also must be done at startup.

Three options for activation, 1. Internet, 2. Manual or 3. E-mail..
Using the manual activation option, browsing to.bin file, users still get the activation question at startup.

Ref. Support Technician Mindjet, you can’t activate it automatically. After roll-out the software have to be activated once manually. And every single machine has to be activated separately because the activation is depending to the hardware.

Any ideas on how to get around this?
I’m not able to have all my users activate the program by themselves, and I must find a solution.

Than’x in advanced!

Download adminsetup; (http://www1.mindjet.de/downloads/mm70/MindManager 7.2.374 Pro Admin EN.zip )
Silent installation;
Msiexec /i MindManagerPro7Admin.msi / LICENSEKEY=”xxxxx……”
or
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Mindjet\MindManager\7\Registration]
"SlpLicenseKey"="xxxxxxxx….. "

I agree it isnt possible to always package an application silenty, a good example is a per machine registration that uses unique machine codes to activate the product, this code is generated by things like the local machine time, type, memory etc etc.

Did you manage to solve this issue, odesti? I'm struggling with the same issue at the moment. I find it ridicilous that the vendor don't have a more straight forward method for enterprise customers.

Zanlex/Odesti,

The customer rep that said there was no other way must have been confused or just utterly lost :). To deploy MindJet MM to an enterprise, you need to ask them to provide you a enterprise license file (*.bin) that will not have the hardware-bind limitation that the standard bin file comes with. You'll receive an email with the file and instructions (basically..rename file to so-and-so and copy it to your application folder). Create an MST and drop that renamed file into the application folder and you're done.

Good luck!

I was a bit fast with my assumption that there is no solution for enterprise customers. Talked to the customer rep this morning and they are going to apply for a residential key on our behalf. This key will work the way you just explained, jcarri06

I’m not able to have all my users activate the program by themselvesWhy not? Once you know where the information gets written (i.e. a file or a registry entry) it's a simple matter of permissioning that entity.

Because the activation action can't be replicated to another computer. In my test, import & export registry key will cause MindManager to crash on new computer.

I'm wondering wether I did something wrong in the install command, when I try activate through Internet, the product key showed in the Activation Wizard is corrupted.

Still working on this problem.

What I meant was, if you open up the permissions on the file or registry key involved, there'd be no problem in your users activating the product.

No problem open up the permissions on file or registry keys involved. Problem is company policy; deploy all software silently, and also with now interactions taken by users at startup, other than starting shortcut..
I know this can be problematic sometimes, but in this company we have managed for all other programs.

I have used Wise Package studio, hardware scan on. Maybe other repacking tool can give better results.??

If you want to persist with that (I find blunt objects applied to management both more satisfying and more productive), you're going to have to speak to the vendor to find out how that information gets written. I imagine it's a function call in a DLL or the main EXE but only they're going to know that.

Good luck and remember not to hold your breath.
