1609 error
Hi experts,
When an applicatioin is deployed (user context) to an EM, we are getting the below error in the log file:
Error 1609. An error occurred while applying security settings.autehnticated users is not a valid user or group. This could be a problem with the package, or a problem connecting to domain controller on the network. check your network connection and click retry, or cancel to end the install. unable to locate the user's SId, system error 1332.
The same package works in other EMs. When we have taken a remote desktop, we found that the OS version XP was installed in French language. Is it anything related to OS language version because of which the issue is occuring ?
Please suggest
Regards
Ramesh

Your guess is absolutely correct as different language OS will have different user groups names pertaining to that language.
However, there are fixed SID string values which can be used irrespective of OS languages.
Example: SID: S-1-5-32-545
Name: Users
You can refer the below link for list of SIDs http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;EN-US;Q243330
If you need help how to implement it through setacl go thru this link http://setacl.sourceforge.net/html/doc-reference.html

Another alternative would be to use the free SIDLookup merge module available at
http://www.installsite.org/pages/en/msi/tips.htm#SIDLookup
Once this merge module is integrated into your package, you could then reference the property SID_AUTHENTICATED_USERS, for this particular builtin group which would work irrespective of the target OS language.
