Job Profile: Windows System Engineer- VMware / Application Virtualization & Packaging Specialist

Job Overview

Looking for a highly motivated individual committed to leading complex Infrastructure projects such as: Widows 7, VmWare (VDI), Application Virtualization & Streaming (Thin-App, Microsoft App-V), Wise Studio Application Packaging, SCCM 2007, Widows Scripting and more.

In this highly visible role, you will be responsible for all phases of Project SDLC and support of our existing and future Desktop infrastructure technologies.

Your familiarity with application packaging tools such as Wise packaging Studio 7.0 and SMS 2003 is a plus in this role. In that capacity, you will also be responsible to architect, maintain and distribute business applications using SMS 2003 infrastructure to our user community locally and remotely.

You will be working with Infrastructure IT team members and Business liaisons on strategic initiatives spanning multiple functional areas. You will also have the opportunity to work with cutting edge technologies to address some of the most challenging IT issues facing companies today. You will be responsible for establishing and maintaining positive business relationships throughout the business community and IT, while delivering timely, viable solutions to our customers. You will collaborate closely with infrastructure and development teams to ensure the highest level of systems availability, reliability, recoverability, and performance.

Primary Qualification (Windows System Administrator)

The ideal candidate will be able to perform Production & Project Management duties as described here:

· Architecture and Administration experience with Windows XP, Vista and windows Server 2003 & 2008.

· Architect Windows 2003 Domain, Active Directory, Group Policy, etc.

· Fundamental understanding of Symantec Ghosting, PXE, WinPE and Microsoft BDD technologies.

· Fundamental understanding of Backup technologies. (Altiris Express, Symantec Backup Exec, Omni Backup, etc)

· Fundamental understanding of TCP/IP, WINS, DNS, DHCP services and some routing protocols such as RIP, IGRP,EIGRP, HSRP, etc

· Batch, Perl and VB scripting knowledge.

· Windows performance and debugging tools

· Wise Application Packaging & Application Virtualization (App-V, Thin App, SVS Pro)- This is a MUST.

· Installation, backup, maintenance and support of Microsoft SQL 2005, 2008 and IIS services. (This is a plus)

· Fundamental understanding of Microsoft SMS 2003 & SCCM 2007 server. (This is a plus)

· Fundamental understanding of Citrix Meta Frame & Presentation Server 4.0 /4.5. (This is a plus)

· Fundamental understanding of VMware ESX Architecture (VDI, Lab Manager, ACE) infrastructure design, and deployment. (This is a plus)

· Excellent project management, customer service, written and verbal communication skills.

· Excellent diagnostic, troubleshooting skills, ability to excel under pressure

· Ability to provide 24x7 on-call support

· Ability to document and communicate Project status, issues, and risks using tools such as: Microsoft Project 2003, MS Office Suite( Excel, Word, Power Point) and Visio in a timely manner to team and senior management

· Outstanding / Strong presentation skills, both written and oral

· Strong customer relationship skills, Communicate effectively with diverse audiences

· A minimum of 5-7 years of financial industry experience.

Daily production Support

· Ability to perform daily production support to various business areas.

· Ability to troubleshoot our Accounting, Operation, Investment & Technology mission critical applications

· Ability to Create / Deploy PC hardware & software to business areas.

· Ability to do repair and maintenance of Laptops & Personal computer.

· Ability to troubleshoot and identify networks problems as they relate to personal Laptop & Desktop computers.

· Provide Remote Support functions to our International Portfolio Managers and LA subsidiaries in Japan & China.

Desirable / Secondary Qualification:

· Ability to establish highly efficient and automated Windows Infrastructure services.

· Preference experience in the financial services.

· Dell hardware certification a plus.

· Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related discipline.

· Knowledge of Cisco Protocols, Routers, Hubs and Switches is a plus.

· Knowledge of EMC & SAN storage is a plus.

· Knowledge of Microsoft Exchange is a plus.

· Professional certifications are desirable including A+ Certification, Microsoft Certified Professional (MCP) or Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE), Red Hat Certified Technician (RHCT) or Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE), VMware Certified Professional (VCP)

Project Management

· Ability to successfully translate business requirements and enterprise technology strategies into specific IT objectives and design paradigms

· Ensure application architecture fully aligns with requirements of interfacing systems, including large scale data provisioning and Business Intelligence infrastructures

· Controls the day-to-day aspects of projects (may include multiple projects) with regard to scope, schedule, resources and budget

· Serve as the first point of escalation for the project team
