Application Packaging/Virtualization Engineer for Windows 7 Migration

Reston, VA

6 Months

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Responsible for application remediation, packaging/virtualization, testing, deployment on Windows 7 platform

• Execute application/OS deployment using SCCM and SWV

• Migrate existing Windows XP applications to Windows 7 platform

Must have experiences:

• 7+ years of experience with application packaging, testing and software deployment

• Recent experience with application remediation and virtualization on Windows 7 platform

• SME on Windows Installers, packaging/virtualization tools such as Wise Package Studio, Symantec Workspace Virtualization, App-V sequencing etc.

• Experience with application remediation techniques using MS ACT, or ChangeBase-AOK, or similar tool a huge plus

• In-depth knowledge of the Windows registry and file system, (GPOs), UAC, and Services using Windows 7

• Familiar with the challenges in migrating end user computers to Windows 7 and importance of application compatibility assessment

• Strong skills with Windows System Administration: Windows XP/7, Server 2008, KMS, GPO

• Experience with customization of COTS applications such as MS Office 2010, IE6 and IE8 etc.

• Candidate must have experience with utilizing industry standard tools, best practice and methodologies in enterprise class engagements

• Experience using VMware Tool, Ghost, and PictureTaker

• Strong experience in VBScript, WMI, and PowerShell Scripting

• Ability to understand SDLC of Software Packaging, QA, and Deployment

Additional experiences/requirements:

• VDI experience with Citrix XenDesktop

• Knowledge of Local Policy management

• Experience with SCCM specifically software distribution

• Ability to deploying applications to Terminal Server/Citrix environments

• Ability to work with SQL Server, IIS, Visual Basic, ASP, and Win32 API

• Ability to work with AppSense

• Ability to understand interrelated issues and the impact of technological changes on workflow and processes

• Ability to communicate and document information clearly and concisely both verbally and in writing so that it is easily understood by other individuals

• Position is in a critical needs area and may have occasional circumstances to work extended hours and/or weekends with little or no notice
