Technology Alliance with Intellisync Provides Complete Automated Software Management Solution for Handheld Users

Boston, Mass.- September 14, 2004 - ManageSoft, The Software Management Company™, today announced that it has extended its platform and automated software management support to handheld devices with its new solution, ManageSoft Handheld Management 7.2. Leveraging Intellisync® Systems Management 5.5, part of the Intellisync Mobile Suite™ platform, this new ManageSoft solution will enable enterprises to remotely maintain mobile devices including laptop, tablet, desktop PCs, Pocket PC handhelds and SmartPhones from manufacturers such as Palm, RIM, Symbian, Sony Ericsson and Motorola. By extending ManageSoft software management solutions to these handheld devices, enterprises will be able to better protect and manage their investments while maximizing remote user productivity.

"Handheld devices are typically the least managed and most vulnerable computing assets," said Walter Elliot, CEO of ManageSoft. "Through our partnership with Intellisync, ManageSoft is able to provide its customers with the most complete automated software management solution in the market."

According to the IDC "Worldwide Mobile Device Management Enterprise 2004-2008 Forecast and Analysis: Preliminary Market Overview," security software solutions designed for mobile and wireless environments are forecast to represent $1.27 billion in revenue by 2007, up from $86.4 million in 2002, based in part on the fact that ...the proliferation of untethered [wireless] devices over the forecast period will increase demand for greater security, especially in the enterprise IT market.

The technology alliance will combine Intellisync's powerful device management capabilities with ManageSoft's automated software management solution for desktops, laptops, and servers, which enables devices worldwide to automatically adapt and self-heal to respond to changes and comply with centrally-defined IT policies. Leveraging ManageSoft Handheld Management 7.2's software management capabilities such as asset collection, software distribution, device configuration and security policy enforcement, enterprises will be able to reduce the cost of maintaining handheld devices. Equally important, enterprises will gain new capabilities that are handheld specific such as the "device kill" mechanism for stolen and lost devices.

"We are excited to be partnered with ManageSoft," said Clyde Foster, Intellisync's chief operating officer. "Our advanced handheld device management technology complements ManageSoft's unique, smart agent architecture. The combined solution will offer a high level of added value to the rapidly increasing handheld market. We believe this alliance will accelerate the expansion of our solutions in new markets."
